Director: Boris Eifman
The Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg will once again be filled with an atmosphere of intense psychological drama thanks to the ballet "Crime and Punishment" by the Boris Eifman Theatre based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
The ballet's world premiere took place in 2024. This production is another work by Eifman, who knows how to bring immortal works of literature to life on stage, in particular the novels of Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky. Boris Eifman has previously staged the ballets "The Idiot" and "The Brothers Karamazov", each of which became a global event. Tickets for the ballet "Crime and Punishment" will introduce you to the stage ballet version of the legendary novel.
In this production, Eifman shows us deep human emotions, forcing us to consider the moral dilemmas and ethical choices of the characters, and to understand why the protagonist nevertheless chooses the side of sin. The ballet becomes a source of deep philosophical reasoning and reflection, while simultaneously delivering aesthetic pleasure from the artists' virtuoso performance of the part of the main character, Rodion Raskolnikov, and the precise conveyance of the atmosphere of 19th-century St. Petersburg.
The ballet "Crime and Punishment" continues the great master's tradition of creating performances that leave a deep imprint on the hearts of the audience, inspiring them to independently reflect on the eternal questions of good and evil, guilt and forgiveness, freedom and responsibility.
