About event
The ballet "Russian Hamlet", staged by Boris Eifman, created to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven and Gustav Mahler, is dedicated to the figure of Paul I. The performance covers the period of Paul's succession and shows his tragic confrontation with a hostile world built on violence and lies. Eifman masterfully portrays the internal conflicts and mental suffering of this historical character.
Over the years of its existence, "Russian Hamlet" was successfully presented in the USA, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, China, South Korea and Argentina. The production received high praise from critics such as Anna Kisselgoff and Clive Barnes, who noted its emotional intensity and stage metaphors. The New York Times called Boris Eifman "virtually the only choreographer with a special gift for electrifying images and theatrical fantasies."
In the 40th anniversary season, the Eifman Theater again turns to “Russian Hamlet”. The choreographic score was rethought, making the ballet even more refined and emotionally rich. The return of this performance to the stage — a significant event in the world of ballet, attracting the attention of both amateurs and professionals.
The screening of "Russian Hamlet" will take place at the National Center for the Performing Arts. This is a modern venue, equipped with the latest technology, providing a high level of comfort for spectators.
