Interesting facts about the ballet "The Firebird"

This production was the second version of the 1975 performance, composed by the choreographer to the music of Igor Stravinsky for the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theatre. Even then, Leningrad viewers could note the innovation and special vision of the young director.

"Eifman's Firebird was super-fantastic: a kind of flying machine, something like a living hyperboloid created by Kashchei to burn out everything human on earth. Having fallen in love with Ivan Tsarevich, the Firebird stopped doing evil..."

Interestingly, in 1978, the television ballet film "The Firebird" was also released - one of Boris Eifman's earliest film works. Kirov Theatre soloists Gabriela Komleva, Vadim Budarin and Arkady Ivanenko took part in the filming.
