"Russian Hamlet" on the stage of the Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre

The filming of the ballet movie has just recently finished in St. Petersburg. It has everything: palace intrigues, passion, and imperial luxury. In order to become a full-fledged film, the film will have to do a lot of work in post-production. The choreographer himself is doing the editing, according to him, this is perhaps the most painful process in his life. In the process of this work, all the mistakes are revealed, both your own and those of the cameraman and actors. Immersing yourself in the analysis of shortcomings that can no longer be corrected, you feel the moral and physical burden. However, at the same time, it is very interesting - as Boris Eifman said, in his childhood he dreamed of becoming a film director, which to some extent came true.

In "Russian Hamlet" , the choreographer turned to one of the most mysterious and controversial figures in Russian history. The plot of the film is limited to the reign of Paul I, in it the choreographer reflected the tragic confrontation between the individual and the hostile world and how the fragility of this very soul resisted violence and lies.

Over the years, the performance has traveled around the world and found fans in the USA, Europe, Asia, and South America. The New York Times, in its review of the production, called Boris Eifman practically the only choreographer whose images and theatrical fantasies seemed to be electrified.
