The ballet "Rodin, Her Eternal Idol" will be presented at the Alexandrinsky Theatre
The Alexandrinsky Theatre will present the production «Rodin, Her Eternal Idol».
Boris Eifman's ballet «Rodin, Her Eternal Idol» is dedicated to the amazing destinies and work of the famous sculptors Auguste Rodin and his student, lover and muse, Camille Claudel. Their story of passion was tragic. For 15 years, Rodin and Claudel were inseparable from each other in a sensual and creative unity. However, their relationship was interrupted, and this breakup dealt Camille a fatal blow, which had a detrimental effect on her mental health. She isolated herself from the world, sank into poverty and lost her mind. Camille was constantly tormented by the thought that there was a conspiracy against her. Her mind, weakened by mental disorder, found no peace. She spent 30 years of her life in a mental hospital and eventually left this world in 1943, forgotten and abandoned by everyone.
"Rodin, Her Eternal Idol" is a large-scale work of art dedicated to the tragic fate of geniuses. Boris Eifman, who masterfully used the unique plastic language of modern psychological ballet in his previous performances (such as "Eugene Onegin", "The Seagull", "Anna Karenina", "Russian Hamlet" and others), now not only explores the world of human passions that haunted Rodin and Claudel, but also creates a work about the mystery of the creative process.
