The ballet "Rodin, Her Eternal Idol" at the Alexandrinsky Theatre from July 7 to 13
From July 7 to 13, the Alexandrinsky Theatre will host Boris Eifman's ballet "Rodin, Her Eternal Idol". This performance is dedicated to the fate and work of the great sculptors Auguste Rodin and his student, lover and muse Camille Claudel.
The Alexandrinsky Theatre, located in the heart of St. Petersburg, is known for its rich history and magnificent architecture. It is one of the city's main cultural venues, where outstanding theatrical productions regularly premiere.
The ballet "Rodin, Her Eternal Idol" tells the tragic love story of Rodin and Claudel. For 15 years, they were inextricably linked both in life and in their work. However, their breakup was fatal for Camille, which led to her mental disorder and isolation from society. Claudel spent the last 30 years of her life in a mental hospital, where she died in 1943.
Boris Eifman uses the unique plastic language of modern psychological ballet to convey the complex emotions and inner experiences of the characters. The performance not only explores the depths of human passions, but also reveals the mystery of the creative process, which was central to the lives of Rodin and Claudel.
