Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre to Delight Audiences with Several Productions in April

In 2013, on the initiative of the choreographer, the Boris Eifman Dance Academy was opened in St. Petersburg with its own training theater, so now the troupe is replenished with those artists who study in the system.

Tickets to the Boris Eifman Theater are an opportunity to see the magic of dance. The theater's ballets are based on both classical and modern works.

April 9 - "Gala Concert of the Boris Eifman Theater" in the Kremlin Palace. The gala concert program allows viewers to see selected fragments from the choreographer's world-famous performances in one evening. Thus, the audience will also be able to appreciate the artistic evolution of the theater, which is already several decades old.

From April 23 to 25, the ballet Crime and Punishment will be shown as part of the tour at NOVATA. The performance does not have a traditional libretto - the content of the novel is presented in a collection of quotes. This is quite unusual, as is the fact that Dostoevsky's novel was taken as the basis for a ballet production. The musical canvas of the performance was made up of works by Gustav Mahler and Boris Tishchenko. Both are quite monumental and reflect the full depth of the tragedy of Dedor Mikhailovich's heroes. The choreographer is turning to Tishchenko's music for the first time. Interestingly, at the time of preparing the performance, each of the dancers, reading the novel, did not know which character was his. They mastered their roles later.

From April 26 to 28, as part of the tour at NOVATA, viewers will be able to see "Eugene Onegin" on the Big Stage. This ballet has long been the hallmark of Boris Eifman's theater, and invariably collects full houses. Many directorial discoveries. Magnificent choreography and depth of characters amaze the imagination. With the help of dance, Eifman makes the artists immerse themselves in the very essence of his characters, once so skillfully described by the sun of Russian poetry Alexander Pushkin. The action unfolds in retrospect, according to the director's plan. The first scene is St. Petersburg, the beginning of the 21st century, the second is 1991, the putsch. The heroes living at the junction of eras are the restless heroes of our time, well understood by the modern viewer. Dreams occupy special attention in the ballet – this technique is Eifman’s favorite, and it is through danced dreams that the artists manage to convey what cannot be said in reality.
