Boris Eifman's ballet "Crime and Punishment" at the Alexandrinsky Theatre
Immerse yourself in a world of passions and contradictions at the unique performance "Crime and Punishment" from the Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, which will take place in the legendary walls of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. This is not just a ballet, but a deep dive into the human soul, where good and evil, love and hate, morality and lawlessness collide.
The Alexandrinsky Theatre, with its majestic architecture and rich history, provides an ideal stage for the embodiment of complex emotions and dramatic plots. This theatre has long been a symbol of the cultural life of St. Petersburg and continues to delight audiences with world-class productions.
The performance "Crime and Punishment" is a two-act ballet set to the music of Gustav Mahler and Boris Tishchenko. Choreographer Boris Eifman focused on five key characters: Rodion Raskolnikov, Sonya Marmeladova, Porfiry Petrovich, Svidrigailov and Dunya. Each of them contributes to the revelation of the main themes of the work: internal struggle, violation of moral principles and inevitable retribution.
Especially impressive is how the ballet conveys the process of spiritual rebirth of Raskolnikov. His crime becomes the beginning of the path to awareness and redemption, and the sacrificial love of Sonya Marmeladova is the key to saving his soul.
